MODERN ARCHITECTURE

Birmingham is a very transient city when it comes to modern architecture. I seems to be in a constant state of flux with re-generation projects, re-zoning, and the growth of the city as a regional market centre. It is also a brave city architecturally, with some of the newest, and a lot of the post-war developments, getting both praise and harsh criticism, even from the locals. The so called 'Brutalist' library, known locally as the 'Ziggurat', is soon to be demolished now that the new Library of Birmingham has been built.
